Veronica started her dancing life with folk dances when she was just 10 years old. From there she went to rhythmic gymnastics while being a teenager and finally discovered tango at the age of 20. She is currently an excellent dancer, artist and teacher who transmits the art of Argentine Tango with respect and love. Today, she has kindly agreed to share with us a brief comment about her experience of Tango in her travels around the UK. We hope you enjoy it!
Veronica inicio su vida de bailarina con las danzas folkloricas cuando tenia apenas 10 años de edad. De allí paso a gimnasia rítmica durante su adolescencia y finalmente cuando cumplió los 20 años, descubrió el tango. Actualmente es una excelente bailarina, artista y maestra que transmite el arte del Tango Argentino con respeto y amor. Argentine Tango in England is in full growth. It has a community that supports many of the live projects and organisers that constantly provide creative ideas that drive the union of the community as a large group that keeps growing.
However, at times I do not see that the real root of tango is understood. It (Tango) is meant to be a sincere embrace where the partner is accepted, it is not a competition between who dances better, who moves the feet faster or who makes more adornments. It is a conversation, a game where the two participants make the other one feel comfortable. Regardless of whether the partner has more or less level, the close and sincere embrace is the one that should be the protagonist and not the shoes or dresses that are worn. Tango is not empty, it is full of content that must be known through its origins, otherwise it becomes an empty discipline.
I have also noticed that there is a strong incoherent rivalry between “traditional” or “nuevo” and, in the end, tango is only one. The UK community must go through this process in order to reach the true essence. Choose the right teachers with true connection to tango, teachers who have real experience in the subject.

El tango en Inglaterra se encuentra en pleno crecimiento. Cuenta con una comunidad que apoya muchos de los proyectos y con organizadores que brindan de manera constante ideas creativas que impulsan a la unión de la comunidad como un gran grupo que se encuentra en crecimiento.
Sin embargo, por momentos no veo que se entienda la real raíz del tango. (El Tango) Es un abrazo sincero donde se acepta al otro y no es una competencia entre quien baila mejor, quien mueve más rápido los pies o quien hace más adornos. Se trata de una conversación, un juego donde los dos partícipes hacen que el otro se deba sentir cómodo. Independientemente de si cuenta con más o menos nivel, el abrazo cercano y sincero es el que debe ser protagonista y no así los zapatos o vestidos que lleven puestos. El tango no es vacío, está lleno de contenido que se debe conocer a través de los orígenes, de lo contrario se convierte en una disciplina más sin sustento.
También eh notado que existe una fuerte competencia incoherente entre “tradicional” o “nuevo” y al final, el tango es uno solo. La comunidad de UK debe pasar por esa etapa para poder llegar a la verdadera esencia. Elegir los maestros correctos con verdadera conexión con el tango, maestros que tengan experiencia real en la materia.
